His contribution to Southampton’s promotion to the Premier League and subsequent survival there before their drive for entry into Europe was crucial.

Therefore, it should not have come as a surprise in 2015 to see teams expressing interest and then to see Manchester United make a major effort to sign Schneiderlin. a transaction from which the Saints profited millions following an excellent acquisition in 2008.
