Player says he feels responsible after Will Still exit – Explains Sunderland target has ‘a lot to learn

Earlier today, Stade de Reims announced the departure of manager Will Still, who had been in charge of the club since 2022.

The coach, who’s been a target for Sunderland for some time now, is set to leave the French side with immediate effect, and can already start planning where to work next.

As the local media now covers Still’s departure, we get to see Reims player Teddy Teuma speaking about his boss in an interview with RTBF.

The 30-year-old pointed out how the squad feels to see their manager go, and whilst they’re sad and feel a little guilty, he also explained the Sunderland target still has a lot to learn in his career.

“It’s sad news. It’s never good news to learn that a coach is leaving, especially in these conditions. As a player, we feel responsible, especially in view of the relationship we had with him. He’s a great coach, incredible on a human level. He’s young, I’m sure he will learn and be even stronger. more experienced for the next experiences.

“He is built to go anywhere. He is passionate with great potential. He still has a lot to learn. If not now or in the years to come, sooner or later he will achieve his dream, ultimately, the Premier League, he is a very ambitious coach, with a lot of determination. I think he will go after what he wants.”

It’s no secret that Sunderland’s chase for Still had an impact on his relationship with the French club’s management, as they weren’t happy to see their manager consider leaving.

The Black Cats have Mike Dodds as an interimn manager until the end of the season, and as they look for their new boss, there’s now an open path to finally get Still signed. It should soon be seen if their desire to bring him to England stays the same.
