Suggested: Celtic ‘stand-out’ talent should leave and join Inter Milan

Stephen O’Donnell suggests ‘stand-out’ Celtic talent should leave and join Inter Milan

With Celtic embroiled in a close title race this season, much of the headlines are being taken up on who will end up on top in May.

With three points separating both sides, Brendan Rodgers can’t allow himself to be distracted by any outside noise heading into the final four fixtures of the season.

With Hearts visiting Parkhead this weekend and Rangers to follow, taking six points will be massive and will probably keep the Scottish Premiership trophy tucked away in the Parkhead boardroom.

However, the story that Inter Milan are interested in signing Matt O’Riley reared its head this week and the timing of it couldn’t be worse.

Matt O’Riley urged to leave Celtic for Inter Milan

Of course, the pull to join a club like Inter Milan would be huge. Even as a massive Celtic fan, I can admit that.

And it seems that that is exactly what the Celtic midfielder should do come the summer according to Motherwell midfielder, Stephen O’Donnell.

O’Donnell said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Certainly, when you talk about pressure can you imagine being at Inter Milan? It doesn’t get much bigger.

“I saw some of the clips of them winning the league and it was amazing. What a move that would be.

“Sometimes you see players leave Celtic or Rangers and you’re going, ‘Are they a bigger club?’

“I think Inter Milan are possibly not far off it.”

Peter Grant replied, “Don’t even go there, Stephen. Don’t even think about it.”

Matt O’Riley has been gaining a lot of attention recently and he has admitted that it did affect his performances for Celtic at the turn of the New Year.

However, he does seem to be getting back to his best and Celtic will need him because with the title race being so close, O’Riley does have that bit of magic in his locker that can win points on his own for Brendan Rodgers.
