Newcastle United signing imminent and will include sell
Genclerbirligi chief Ali Ekber Duzgun has revealed youngster Baran Yildiz is set to join Newcastle United.
Unless there is a drastic change, no first-team signings are expected at St James’ Park. However, that has not stopped the recruitment team from adding to the academy ranks.
Georgian wonderkid Vakhtang Salia was shown around Tyneside for the first time last month ahead of his summer switch. Signing young talent, like Yankuba Minteh, Alex Murphy and Garang Kuol, has been a priority for the Magpies since the Saudi-backed takeover.
Minteh is the prime example of how prospects – even if they do not break into the starting line-up – can be flipped for a profit to alleviate PSR struggles. Yildiz now appears to be the next cab off the rank after impressing in Turkey.
No official announcement has been made but Genclerbirligi have let slip that a move is imminent. The club’s general manager, Duzgun, admitted Yildiz will “head to England” providing there are no unexpected hiccups in the deal.
Genclerbirligi have also placed a sell-on clause in his contract should Newcastle ever move the player on. Duzgun told Turkish media: “Baran’s transfer is now up for official signature. It has not been officially finalised yet. But unless there are any surprises, our young football player is on his way to England.
“It is a great success for our player to be transferred from the youth academy to a Premier League team. I hope he finds a place in his new team because, as long as he is in the squad, Genclerbirligi’s income from this transfer will increase.
“Our club also has a share in his next sale. I hope that Baran will provide new income to the club that trained him as he progresses in his career, as in the case of Arda Guler.”
