Saudi clubs eye move for seven-goal Rangers ace as Celtic make ambitious bid for in-form star

Hearts will open the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership campaign against a new-look Rangers team, who are already on the verge of completing their fifth signing of the summer under manager Philippe Clement.

The Gers have acquired the likes of Jefte, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Clinton Nsiala, Mohamed Diomande while a move for Moroccan wonderkid Hamza Igamane is understood to be imminent.

Cantwell was once regarded as a hot prospect in English football, representing the Three Lions U21 on four occasions during a fruitful spell at Norwich City.

He has showcased signs of his talents during his time at Ibrox too and hit seven goals in 30 appearances last season.

Cantwell was one of Michael Beale’s first signings, but he is not a part of Philippe Clement’s plans and his availability has alerted newly-promoted Saudi side Al-Qadsiah.

In recent times they have already signed the likes of Nacho Fernandez from Real Madrid and Koen Casteels from Wolfsburg as they look to assemble a team capable of competing in the Saudi top-flight.

Celtic have bid rejected for in-form striker

Norwich City have turned down a Celtic bid for Adam Idah which is understood to be in the region of £4m to £5m.

The Republic of Ireland international arrived at Parkhead in January on a six-month loan deal and was a catalyst for his side’s success, scoring nine goals in 19 appearances, including a dramatic winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final, which sealed a league and cup double.

Upon his arrival at Celtic, Idah admitted that he had been a lifelong Hoops fan and many supporters are keen to see him make even more happy memories with them next season.

However, BBC Scotland understands that Norwich City are not actively trying to sell Idah and say that new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is excited at the prospect of working with him next season as they target promotion to the Premier League.

Idah is under contract at Carrow Road until 2028 and is now expected to be a first team regular after a productive spell north of the border.

Celtic remain interested in signing Idah on a permanent basis, but it remains to be seen whether they will re-emerge with a new and improved bid in the coming weeks.
