Rumours accelerate as Celtic could be closing in on first summer signing

Newcastle United’s signing of goalkeeper John Ruddy on Monday has fueled speculation that Martin Dubravka could be on his way to Celtic.

With Slovakia’s exit from the Euros, discussions about Dubravka’s future are likely to gain momentum.

Rumours from Newcastle suggest that Dubravka is eager to leave this summer, with Celtic emerging as a potential destination. The completion of the Ruddy deal has led some to believe that Dubravka’s departure is imminent. One Newcastle news account, Mouth of the Tyne, stated their belief that Dubravka’s move to Celtic is “nailed on”, claiming they had some inside knowledge.

Recently, Dubravka commented on the ongoing rumours linking him to Celtic, stating, “I am aware that there are rumours. Teammates ask me about it, agents and people call me, if there is any truth to it. There was some truth in that a year ago and you see, I stayed at Newcastle, so I still take it as if there is no official offer on the table, then I absolutely do not deal.”

He added, “I told my agents that if it was concrete and there was an offer, then only then would I consider it. At the moment, it is only in the stage of some noises.”

With the Euros now behind him, and Ruddy’s arrival at Newcastle, Dubravka might soon find himself donning the Celtic goalkeeper jersey as the Hoops look to find their Joe Hart successor and complete their first summer signing.

He’s coming in similar to how Joe Hart did, at an older age, under a bit of a cloud and looking to get back to his very best in his twilight years.
