West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing an Aston Villa star previously wanted by Chelsea.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran could still make a Premier League switch this transfer window despite the recent £40 million deal collapse with Chelsea.

The Colombia international, currently competing at Copa America in the United States, is eager to leave the Villans in the coming weeks. It was widely reported that Villa had verbally agreed to sell Duran to Chelsea but the deal fell through as the Blues developed concerns and considered alternatives.

West Ham could now provide a different route away, claims the reputable ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham Way. It’s reported that the Hammers are monitoring ongoing Duran’s situation ahead of a potential offer to Villa.

Ollie Watkins’ remarkable form last season meant Duran had to play second fiddle throughout 2023/24. Although signed with the backup role in mind ahead of a later breakthrough, Duran is unhappy with his current level of game time.

The striker’s attitude – one of the factors Chelsea considered before pulling the plug on their deal – could prove problematic if he doesn’t get what he wants. But Villa won’t just sell for any price as they believe he has superb potential still to unlock.

Duran has scored eight goals for Villa in 49 games since signing for £14.75 million from Chicago Fire, including a brace off the bench against Liverpool in May.
