Bright Osayi-Samuel ‘bargain price’ claim could help soothe Rangers’ Premier League pain

Bright Osayi-Samuel is a name which will be familiar to Rangers fans.

Routinely linked with a move to Ibrox throughout his career, the English-born Nigerian winger is currently turning out for Fenerbahce.

Indeed Rangers were reportedly battling the Turkish side for the signature of Bright Osayi-Samuel during the right-winger-turned-right-back’s days at QPR.

Fast forward three years and – after links to the player reappeared last summer – Osayi-Samuel’s time in Türkiye could be about to come to an end.

Osayi-Samuel to leave Fenerbahce?

There’s plenty of excitement building at Fenerbahce this summer.

With Jose Mourinho appointed as they look to wrestle the Super Lig title back from Galatasaray, the league promises to have more eyes on it than ever next season.

The almighty sway of Borna Barisic and John Lundstram after moves to Trabzonspor will see to that.

Seriously though with Mourinho’s appointment changes will likely sweep through the Asiatic Istanbul club and Bright Osayi-Samuel’s name has just cropped up.

According to Alan Nixon, writing on his official Patreon site, Osayi-Samuel could be available for a ‘bargain price’ this summer as the Turks trim the fat from their wage bill like an overpriced kebab in Marmaris.

Whilst the journalist suggests Osayi-Samuel will be allowed to return to England, Rangers appear to be on the look out for a right-sided wing-back.

Rangers on right-back transfer hunt

According to reports, Rangers had a ‘concrete interest’ in signing West Ham full-back Ben Johnson this summer.

With the defender now officially leaving the Hammers, it looks like Ipswich are going to beat the bears to the punch.

Couple this with widespread – if not confusing – reporting around James Tavernier and suddenly it’s a position which could need reinforcing this summer.

Bright Osayi-Samuel might’ve started his career as a right-winger but over the years in Türkiye he’s evolved into something of a wing-back.

The one stumbling block?

Well, apparently Osayi-Samuel is on high wages in Turkey even if he’s now in the final year of his contract in Istanbul.

Over three years in Turkey, the winger has played 139 games, scored 7 goals and laid on 13 assists.
