View: How Rangers could look next season with Igamane in starting XI

Since the start of the summer transfer window, there has been a major shake-up within the playing ranks of the Rangers squad.

Both Borna Barisic and John Lundstram, two mainstays in the Gers’ squad, have departed Ibrox and left for pastures new upon the expiry of their contracts.

In addition to players leaving, there have also been a few arrivals here and there.

Another move that is near-completion is that of Hamza Igamane from AS Far to the Glasgow-based outfit.

The deal is set to be somewhere in the region of £2million and could be made official in the coming days [Football Scotland, 28 June].

With this in mind, there will likely be a whole new-look Rangers team entering the 2024/25 season.

Moves for many players both in and out of the Gers are still expected to occur, but for now, here is what their starting XI could look like.

Rangers potential starting XI after the arrival of Hamza Igamane

Between the sticks will obviously be Jack Butland. The former Stoke City keeper only joined the club last season but has made a lasting impact on the Gers’ fans.

Defensively is where Rangers have seen the most change thus far but for now there’s only likely to be one change. Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun look likely to be deployed at centre-back.

Then onto the full-backs. Stalwart James Tavernier will occupy right-back, should he not depart, whilst newcomer Jefte could find himself on the left.

The midfield zone is just as much up for debate in terms of selection. Clement will likely go with two defensive midfielders, being new transfers this year in Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande, the latter of whom is now settled in after his January arrival.

Now onto the attack, where Todd Cantwell could be used in the middle, while Ross McCausland and Oscar Cortes have a good shout of taking either flank.

Then lastly, leading the line would be new signing Igamane.

There are many ways in which the Gers could line up on the opening day. This current team is based upon what we already know will happen.

Should Igamane’s transfer be officially confirmed in the coming days, there will be no doubt that they’ll be in a strong position in regard to their attack this term.
