Three more Celtic departures confirmed

The club confirmed today that Imane Addi, Sydney Cummings and Tiree Burchill have left the title-winners ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. The new Celtic manager will use this summer to re-shape her Celtic FC Women squad and inevitably there will be players who lose out, with the most notable departure perhaps being homegrown talent Tiree Burchill.

However all members of the squad had five months to impress the manager and we can now see the results of that process in terms of departures.

Sydney Cummings arrived at Celtic just last September after signing a two-year deal with the Hoops. A player in her early 20s with a good amount of experience looked incredibly promising, but she only made 10 league appearances for the club and clearly failed to win Elena Sadiku over. She now joins up with Spokane Zephyr, a team set to play in the USL Super League over in America. The league will debut this season and will also feature the team that Tash Flint has signed for. Certainly one to keep an eye on!

Making 17 total appearances last campaign, including two in the Women’s Champions League, Tiree Burchill leaves after two seasons in the first team. Making her debut in June 2022, she has popped up on various occasions and has always proved herself a good option for Celtic. A player who, in my opinion, has a lot of potential will be snapped up sooner rather than later so definitely keep track of where she goes next.

Elena is really making this squad her own as we head into pre-season. The question now is if she’s happy with every position, or if we’ll see more arrivals. I wouldn’t expect any more departures at this point but we certainly should be looking at several new incoming signings over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to all three Ghirls as they look to progress their careers away from Celtic, you will always be welcome at Paradise!

The Celtic FC Women squad will travel to Sweden on Monday to their pre-season training camp and obviously Elena Sadiku will have had a pick part to play in that decision.
