Celtic backed to sign Crystal Palace star after Michael Olise update

Celtic could have been backed to re-sign Odsonne Edouard this summer even though Michael Olise is leading a Crystal Palace exodus.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson made it clear he doesn’t think the forward is part of Oliver Glasner’s plans.

Glasner took charge of the Eagles in February of this year, and while he brought success to the club, it led to significantly reduced game time for Edouard.

However, the Eagles could lose some vital players in attacking areas this summer, with Michael Olise undergoing a medical at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich after agreeing the terms of a £50m transfer.

It could lead Glasner to rethink his options, but he also might reinvest the money the club would make from Olise’s sale in a newer player.

That could then open the door for Edouard to make a move back to Celtic, where he played 179 games and scored 87 goals.

Celtic tipped to re-sign Odsonne Edouard after new update

With Edouard seemingly not in Glasner’s plans, a move back to the Hoops could be ideal for his career, but Robinson believes it’s “down to finances.”

“With Crystal Palace, they’re potentially losing the likes of Eze, Olise, Guehi this summer; they’re going to get tested with bids for those types of players,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I think Edouard’s future will be decided by the movement of others, but I think with Oliver Glasner it doesn’t look like he’s going to get a look in.

“I think with the opportunity for him to move, I don’t think it will cost him that much in all honesty.

“I think that is a player that Celtic could realistically look at.”
