Drua base continue to be a hive of activity hosting four national teams

Despite the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby W seasons ending, the Fijian Drua Base in Nadi continues to be a hive of activity.

This week the national teams are using the facility including the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side, the Vodafone Fijiana XV and the Sports World Fijian U20s teams.

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians were also using the facility before they left for London for their Killik Cup match against the Barbarians this weekend.

According to the Fijian Drua, the teams are accessing the facilities made available completely free of charge as they prepare for important campaigns in the coming weeks.

Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans says they have been pretty busy this week managing the teams currently utilising their facilities.

Evans says all the teams have very important campaigns coming up so they are happy to help with the national cause.

He says at the Drua facility, all teams are able to use their fully equipped gym with specialised rugby training gear like scrum sleds, ski machines, vertical jump sets (force decks), indoor running track, a dedicated activation area with wrestling mats and other gear.

He adds the teams are also able to use the Fijian Drua’s state-of-the-art temperature-controlled ‘i-cool’ ice baths to assist in athlete recovery and their in-house medical centre specialising in rehabilitation for injured players.

Evans says all teams are also using their Fiji Airways Field for full field sessions as well as their 50×50 field for positional work.

Evans says they are committed to the development of young pathway players in Fiji, so they are especially happy to assist the Fijian U20 team prepare for the Junior Rugby World Championships in South Africa.

He says they have assigned two Drua coaches in Ifereimi Rawaqa and Greg Fleming to assist the Fijian U20s coaching set-up at no cost to the FRU.
