Rangers watching 15-goal Copa America striker after ‘highest levels’ transfer pledge – report

Rangers are on the hunt to bolster the striker position at Ibrox this transfer window.

The Gers were found wanting in the forward positions last season as injury forced a number of crucial players out of the squad.

With Kemar Roofe leaving Rangers this summer and Fabio Silva returning to Wolves, there is much work to be done.

And as Rangers close in on one new hitman in the shape of Hamza Igamane, a surprise link to another striker currently at the Copa America has surfaced online.

Rangers watching Bair
Ibrox fans might be surprised to hear that Motherwell hitman Theo Bair is currently in the USA at the Copa America.

But the Canada international has certainly done enough to merit the opportunity after a stellar season with the Steelmen.

Rangers know all to well the physical goalscoring exploits of Bair with the hitman netting Motherwell’s first goal in that devastating 2-1 Ibrox defeat to the Fir Park side last season.

Whilst Theo Bair was an unused substitute in Canada’s Copa America opener v Argentina, we suspect fans will get a glimpse of the player as the tournament goes on.

Now, the Athletic are claiming that Rangers have kept an eye on the striker heading into the summer alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic.

With unnamed teams in Germany also mentioned should Rangers be keen on the Bair they face a genuine transfer battle and it’s something the striker himself is appearing to relish.

Striker makes transfer pledge
Speaking about his potential transfer prospects this summer, Theo Bair has been startlingly ambitious.

Claiming that he has dreams of playing at the highest level, the 24-year-old Ontarian insists that he’s ready to take another step in his career.

It comes with Bair impressing across two seasons in Scotland, scoring 15 times in all competitions for Motherwell last season after joining the club from St Johnstone.

Starting his career with Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS, with a brief loan spell in Norway in between, Bair certainly thinks very highly of himself and what he can achieve in the game.

“If a transfer were to come, I want to go as high as possible and test myself,” Bair told the Athletic. “I think I need to be tested physically

“I need to go and prove myself right: I believe I can score at the highest levels and I don’t want this season to be a one-off.”

With a deal got Igamane edging closer, Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing two new forwards to the club this summer.

Rangers-linked McKenna closes in on deal
Scott McKenna is one name that has been routinely linked to Rangers over the last few windows.

Following a fall-out at Premier League Nottingham Forest last season, the Gers were said to be battling Old Firm rivals Celtic in the hunt for the centre-back.

Eventually joining FC Copenhagen on loan until the end of the season, McKenna has now left Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract.

Up for grabs on a free, there have been murmurs if not any concrete suggestion Rangers are interested in a move for the 27-year-old ex-Aberdeen star.

But now it appears Scott McKenna has taken a decision on his future.

According to p.73 of the Mirror for 23/06/24, McKenna is now ‘likely’ to join FC Copenhagen on a permanent basis ahead of the new season.
