Writing on their website (22 June), the news outlet report the Hammers are keen on a cash deal for the 32-year-old striker who is set to leave St James’ Park this summer.

Newcastle are keen to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton as a replacement and the “next few days” could be key in the Irons’ quest to sign the former England international, with the billionaire-owned Magpies looking to get their summer business done early.

West Ham United want to sign Callum Wilson
Striker signings are the priority at the London Stadium this summer with several departures expected at the top end of the pitch.

Michail Antonio is wanted by clubs in the MLS and Saudi [Athletic, 15 May], and Danny Ings is a target for Southampton [talkSPORT, 28 May], leaving their futures at the club up in the air.

That leaves limited striker options for Julen Lopetegui, and with links to Lille sensation Jonathan David [iNews, 19 June] also prevalent it seems the club are starting to hone in on forward targets.

Luis Guilherme has strengthened the wing after the exits of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma, while Max Kilman is a key target to strengthen defence this summer.

It’s a busy summer and while a striker is necessary, a 32-year-old being moved on because his injury record is poor doesn’t scream out ‘great business’ if you’re a fan of the club.
