SUNDERLAND FC SUBMITS BID TO SIGN MAN U DEFENDER

Sunderland FC has made a bold move to bolster their defense by submitting a bid to sign Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans, according to sources close to the club.

The Black Cats have been linked with the 34-year-old defender for several weeks, and it appears they are willing to make a serious push to bring him to the Stadium of Light.

Evans, who has spent the past two seasons with Leicester City, is out of contract in the summer and is likely to be available on a free transfer. Sunderland believe they can tempt him to join them by offering a two-year deal and a significant increase in wages.

The former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion defender has consistently been one of the most consistent center-backs in the Premier League, and Sunderland are keen to pair him alongside other experienced defenders such as Conor McLaughlin and Bailey Wright.

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson is a long-time admirer of Evans and believes he would be an excellent addition to his squad. “Jonny is an exceptional player who has consistently performed at a high level throughout his career,” Johnson said. “He would be a huge coup for our club and would give us an immediate boost in terms of quality and experience.”

The bid is still in its early stages, but Sunderland are confident that they can persuade Evans to join them. The club is expected to make an official approach in the coming days, and it’s thought that personal terms are already being discussed.

If successful, this would be a major coup for Sunderland FC, who are looking to rebuild their squad after a disappointing season. The addition of Evans would provide a significant boost to their backline and give them a better chance of achieving their goal of promotion back to the Premier League.
