Liverpool Journo Floats £7m Celtic Transfer Theory
|After a standout season for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany where he won a domestic double, an intriguing summer lies ahead for ex-Celtic favourite Jeremie Frimpong.
The right-back is currently with the Netherlands ahead of Euro 2024, but transfer interest in him remains rife.
According to a report from Sport Bild in Germany, English Premier League giants Liverpool are one of several clubs looking to take advantage of his £35m release clause this summer.
Should the Reds shell out such a fee for the flying Dutchman, as of the Liverpool Echo, Celtic will be due £7m in sell-on money.
These funds, as per the same Liverpudlian report from journalist Tom Cavilla, could be used by the Hoops to sign previously-linked goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Available for £15m, the theory is that Celtic would put the Frimpong sell-on money towards signing the Irishman as their new number one.
While such a happening would be greatly welcomed by the Parkhead faithful, it is rather unrealistic. Transfer deals are so complex on their own that this kind of thing is unlikely.
Kelleher’s situation is one to keep an eye on for Celtic supporters over the coming weeks but perhaps attention should be turned to some more real reasonable Joe Hart replacements such as Peter Vindahl Jensen or Martin Dubravka.
