Exclusive: Sunderland open talks to sign West Ham attacker

Sunderland have opened talks to sign West Ham forward Divin Mubama this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on 30 April the 19-year-old would leave the Hammers once his contract expires at the end of June.

The compensation fee will be set by a tribunal unless his new club can agree terms with the Irons, with Sunderland currently exploring a deal to take him to the Stadium of Light.

Divin Mubama set to bring time at West Ham to an end
Mubama has made just 18 senior appearances for West Ham since making his debut in the Europa Conference League in November 2022.

The Newham-born striker scored his first Hammers goal in the competition in March 2023, but he’s since been unable to add to his tally.

The teenager is believed to have been frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities under David Moyes, having played just 74 minutes in the Premier League across the most recent campaign.

Mubama is now in talks over a potential move to Sunderland as they look to add the forward to their already youthful squad at the Stadium of Light.

Mubama might not be the only player to leave West Ham this summer as there are expected to be plenty of changes at the London Stadium after Julen Lopetegui has replaced Moyes as the club’s new manager.
