Unexpected Celtic trio jet away days after Scottish Cup Final success

As the curtain closes on yet another football season for Celtic, fans will reflect on it as perhaps one of the most emotionally straining in recent years.

It didn’t look likely at times, but the Hoops pulled through in the end and hit form at the correct time to bring home a double.

Despite turbulence at several points throughout the campaign, the Bhoys buckled down at key points and turned up in the big games.

Indeed, Celtic failed to lose any derby against Rangers this season, taking 10 out of a possible 12 points off their rivals in the league. They also put them to the sword in the Scottish Cup thanks to a dramatic 1-0 win on Saturday.

Adam Idah got the winning goal in the Hampden final, pouncing on a venomous Paulo Bernardo strike in the last minute of the 90.

The strike sparked jubilant scenes in the national stadium’s green and white end while proving to be the last loop in a rollercoaster campaign.

With Celtic not due back for pre-season for a long while now, the players have a chance to recharge and recuperate.

Some will go away and play for their countries at some point but right now, it seems most will get at least a short break before the Euros.

Indeed, Daizen Maeda, Tomoki Iwata, and strangely, Benjamin Siegrist were pictured on a plane together yesterday.

An admittedly random trio, the Swiss ‘keeper joked he’d be fluent in Japanese after the flight:

The destination of the Bhoys is unknown, but they thoroughly deserve the opportunity to rest and recharge.

Maeda has never stopped all season while Iwata played his part on several occasions. Siegrist didn’t make an appearance all campaign but still contributed in and around the dressing room.
