So Emotional;Paulo Bernardo has Celtic fans saying the same thing as he bids farewell

The Portuguese youngster capped off his season-long loan at Parkhead with a Scottish Cup Final assist against Rangers

Paulo Bernardo thanked Celtic fans for all their support after his season-long loan from Benfica reached an end.

But Hoops supporters hope it’s not the last they see of the Portuguese midfielder after his game-changing Scottish Cup moment. Bernardo played a key role from the bench on Saturday as his fizzing shot in the dying minutes was parried by Jack Butland, falling to the feet of Adam Idah who etched his name in Celtic folklore by sliding the ball under the Rangers keeper to secure a famous Double.

Paulo Bernardo is due to return to Benfica

Overall, the Portugal Under-21 starlet racked up 32 appearances during his time in Scotland, scoring a memorable goal in December’s 2-1 Glasgow derby win at Parkhead. But it remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers will trigger the £6million release clause in his Benfica contract to land the 22-year-old permanently this summer.

Bernardo kept it short and sweet on Instagram as the title-winner voiced his appreciation to the green-and-white faithful. He wrote: “Grateful for this season. Thank you very very much for all the support.”

However, Celtic supporters appeared to be in unanimous agreement that they’d love to see the talented playmaker back in Glasgow’s east end next season as they flooded his social media with comments.
