Another Rangers medical to come after Jefte, ‘Monumental’ new signing may be days away – report

Levski Sofia defender Jose Cordoba is on the verge of signing for Rangers, according to Panamanian journalist Jose Miguel Dominguez.

Speaking live on El Marcador on YouTube on Thursday (23 May), Dominguez reported that Norwich have failed with an approach to sign the 22-year-old centre-back, who now just needs to undergo a medical at Ibrox before the deal is made official.

It is understood that Cordoba is excited by the prospect of playing against Celtic in the Old Firm and the deal should be announced in “the next few days”.

Dominguez calls the transfer a “monumental signing” for Rangers, who also look set to sign Fluminense left-back Jefte after he passed a medical with the Light Blues on Thursday [Four Lads Had A Dream].

Who else will Rangers sign in summer transfer window?

Jefte and Cordoba look like they could be good signings.

Both are young and could be players who are sold on for a hefty profit in the future.

Both, however, are risks because neither have ever played in very big leagues.

With Cordoba, he’s played 89 times in all competitions for Levski Sofia, as well as winning 10 caps for Panama.

This season he played – and assisted a goal – in a shock 1-1 draw against Frankfurt in the Europa Conference League qualifiers but in the league, he could only help Levski finish fifth in the Bulgarian top flight.

Cordoba and Jefte look to be the first of multiple new signings at Ibrox this season with the Scottish Sun reporting on Wednesday that Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen will look to make at least eight new additions.

Abdallah Sima and Oscar Cortes could be two of them after spending time on loan at Ibrox this season but more could be needed if the likes of Jack Butland, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson join those who are out-of-contract in leaving Govan in the coming weeks and months.
