English club ready to fight as Rangers want to sign their ‘Jewel’ – report

Rangers want to sign Souleymane Sidibe from Stoke City this summer but they aren’t going to let him leave easily, according to FootMercato.

Rangers set for transfer fight to sign Souleymane Sidibe in new Stoke update

Sebastien Denis has reported for the outlet (23 May) that Chelsea, Juventus and Brighton are set to challenge the Gers for his signature.

This could lead to a bidding war this summer but Stoke “don’t intend to give up their jewel so easily” given that his contract doesn’t expire until 2026.

Who is Rangers target Souleymane Sidibe?
The 17-year-old is being tracked by some big sides from across Europe so he clearly has that something special and plenty of potential.

Sidibe is one of the youngest first-team players in Stoke’s history which just goes to show the esteem he is held in.

He is happy to play in any role within the centre of midfield, whether that be as a number six or as a more offensive box-to-box.

His ability on the ball is what catches the eye as he is technically gifted which allows him to drive forward with the ball at his feet. This can help relieve pressure on the back line in tougher fixtures.

He has already featured for England Under 18s but could also play for France, Senegal or Mali in the future should he decide to.

Rangers are having to be smart in the transfer window and make cheap signings of young players who are only going to improve.

Sidibe could prove to be an excellent piece of business by Philippe Clement this summer.
