Surgery claim emerges as Rangers player to be ruled out until June with injury

Rangers defender Connor Goldson is unlikely to require surgery on his knee that ruled him out for the season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert admits that it was hard to gauge the next step initially as the information provided was limited, but the fact that he has not needed surgery thus far is a good sign.

The English defender should be back in time for whenever Gers’ pre-season campaign begins unless he suffers a setback in the off season.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“The scans likely revealed at least moderate damage but it’s hard to say if surgery is needed or not without more information.

“A decent amount of time has passed so it seems like a procedure may not be needed.

“If there are no setbacks, he should be back for pre-season which is expected to be sometime in June.

Connor Goldson has added to the injury woes at Rangers

It has been a chaotic campaign for Philippe Clement to deal with the number of injuries as he has at Ibrox.

Along with Goldson, Danilo and Oscar Cortes will also not return for the season and there was a game in which 11 first-team players were ruled out.

“However, he will need monitoring in the off season.

“Hopefully, Gers look to ship out the players that are failing to maintain fitness and bring in those in much better condition over the summer.
