View: Euro club may be prepared to splash millions on Rangers player after Thursday announcement

Utrecht announced that Sam Lammers, who has joined on loan from Rangers in January, has won April’s Player of the Month award.

The Dutch club took to Twitter to share an image of the 27-year-old holding the trophy at their training ground.

He scored the most goals of any player in the Eredivisie in April (5) and with nine goals since moving to the Netherlands, he’s already become the highest scorer in the league for his club.

Rangers hold the negotiating power

Gers will be keen to recoup a significant portion of the £3.5million, per the Scottish Sun, they invested in Lammers, especially considering his impressive performance at FC Utrecht.

With the Dutch attacker’s current form and the Eredivisie side potentially eyeing him up for a permanent move, Rangers may find themselves in a favourable position to negotiate a deal that would bring them closer to the initial investment they made.

Lammers has demonstrated exceptional skill and goal-scoring ability during his loan spell at Utrecht, setting a new club record for consecutive strikes and becoming a vital component of their attacking strategy.

This performance will undoubtedly attract attention from Utrecht and other clubs, making Gers’ bargaining position stronger.

The Scottish side could leverage Lammers’ success to drive up his price tag, aiming to secure a deal that reflects his current value in the transfer market.

Utrecht’s financial challenges may be a challenge for Rangers to navigate

However, there are challenges that the Scottish side must navigate as Utrecht’s financial capacity and willingness to meet their valuation of the 27-year-old could be a sticking point.

The Dutch club’s former manager Rob Alflen has also hinted at a significant difference in salary expectations, which might make a permanent move for Lammers difficult to achieve.

However, that is not to say the deal will not happen as a successful negotiation could see Rangers receive a substantial fee for Lammers, which would provide a much-needed financial boost.

This windfall could be reinvested into the squad, helping the Ibrox outfit strengthen their team for future competitions.
