Dundee vs Rangers Plan B option emerges as ‘agreement reached’ with fellow Premiership side to host fixture

The premier match has already been postponed twice; in the event that Dens Park is declared unplayable once more, a backup location has been announced.

If Dens Park passes a second pitch inspection on Tuesday morning, Rangers’ twice-postponed Scottish Premiership match against Dundee will supposedly take place on Wednesday at McDiarmid Park in St Johnstone.

Due to a flooded playing field, the match has been postponed twice in as many weeks. As a result, the Dark Blues have been heavily criticised for having FIVE games postponed this season, and they will now face disciplinary action from the SPFL.

Furthermore, The Courier reports that McDiarmid Park is the fallback location for the match in the event that their Tayside rivals are unable to organise it. The story also states that Dundee has been in negotiations with other clubs for the past several days, but that they have now come to an arrangement with St Johnstone to play the last remaining top-tier match before splitting with the stadium’s patrons, should that become necessary.

Dundee’s goalless draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday night earned them the final top-six berth. However, this game could be crucial to the title chase because Rangers and Celtic are now fighting for the championship.

The Ibrox team accused their opponents of “negligence and unprofessionalism” in a strongly worded statement last weekend due to Dundee’s continuous drainage issues. They have, meanwhile, resisted getting involved in a verbal sparring match with the Light Blues.

The impact of “climate change” was cited by Dees club secretary Eric Drysdale as the cause of their unlucky experience with home game postponements. “I can understand that people are annoyed and are looking at this as being Dundee’s fault,” he remarked in an interview with Sky Sports News.

“What I would say is that, based on the study we’ve been doing over the past few days, we’ve found that the rainfall this year is 35% more than the average over the previous ten years. That demonstrates the impact that climate change is having on it, and it seems that the Dens Park pitch needs immediate attention. We would be more than happy to work on it during the summer.
