“Logical” pitch solution presented as Dundee pitch nonsense deepens

Who would have guessed that the surface at Dens Park in Dundee would cause such anxiety during Rangers’ championship match against Celtic?

Rangers’ match against Dundee was cancelled ahead of the international break because of the condition of the field at the Scottish Premiership team’s stadium.

This resulted in a change in dynamics at the top of the Scottish Premiership, when Rangers and Celtic drew 3-3.

Rangers could have led the league by two points going into the match if they had defeated Dundee, but the postponement meant that Celtic went to Ibrox as the leaders.

Philippe Clement is shocked that less than twenty-four hours before kickoff, Rangers’ match against Dundee is still in jeopardy.

Smoke from Philippe Clement at Dundee’s surface
The Rangers manager has criticised Dundee for their pitch, saying that the incident reflects poorly on Scottish football as a whole.

The direct-talking Belgian talks about a fair and balanced game, but he has made it plain that Dundee’s pitch is ruining his preparations.

The problem is still ongoing, and in his irate remarks, Philippe Clement portrays Dundee as a two-bit operation.

Clement described the scene as “crazy.” “To go to a top league that you were unaware of the day before. We’re going to fly there in a half-hour or an hour, and we’ll be staying in a hotel. You’re not sure if the game is scheduled for tomorrow or not.

That’s a rather strange circumstance, then. Okay, it can occur in exceptional cases, but I don’t believe it has occurred in any of the elite leagues in the last few years.

“However, there are issues whenever it rains in Scotland these days, even though there are typically plenty of sunny days there. This is bad news for the league and for Dundee as well.”

Clement responded, “I don’t know because I haven’t seen the pitch, I haven’t been on the pitch,” when questioned about worries regarding player safety.

When we went there the last time, it was evident that it was unsafe for players and unplayable for both teams.

“So I’ll see if there’s another situation now, and in the end, the referee makes the decision—not me.”

When pressed for more details regarding his hopes for a speedy resolution, Clement said, “Of course, I want the decision today because you want to prepare games.”

However, the federation and the clubs are in agreement on that point. Of course you want, not just for us because you want to prepare games. If that’s not possible, you want to see what the other option is, and if that’s not doable, you need to find an other option somewhere. We’re running out of time since the league is splitting next week. That makes sense as well.

“You want to play as quickly as possible and have an alternative, but you also need to be ready. Thus, in my opinion, these issues severely damage the league’s reputation, and they must be resolved going forward so that they may no longer happen.

In response to the question of whether he would feel at ease playing on a neutral pitch, Clement said, “Yes, I think in these circumstances it can be a logical choice.”

Rangers await the evaluation of the pitch.
What is the current state of Dundee’s pitch in advance of the Rangers game?

John Nelms, the managing director of Dundee, has stated publicly that he is “confident” the game will proceed.

This is true even though the Met Office has predicted heavy rain in that region of the nation.

The American director also thinks that the game should be moved even farther ahead to the following week, so that it takes place following the Rangers’ weekend trip to Ross County.

That would still allow for a match between the two clubs before the Scottish Premiership has to be divided.

This surface may have plenty of time to recover given that Dundee is visiting Aberdeen over the weekend.

The match is still uncertain as of right now; at 11 a.m., a pitch inspection will be held to ascertain whether it will go.

As a result, Rangers could have to wait to take the top spot in the Scottish Premiership again.
