Philippe Clement sends James Tavernier 12-word Rangers message after Celtic “mistake”

James Tavernier experienced every feeling that comes with leading the Rangers for ninety minutes against Celtic.

However, that aptly sums up the 32-year-old right-back’s nine-year tenure in Glasgow.
The 132-year-old record defensive goalscorer in British football has seen some incredible highs and some devastating lows.

Tavernier now has six goals against Celtic, who have always shown to be a formidable opponent. The Rangers captain’s journey against our Old Firm opponents is nearly a perfect replica of the club’s.

In keeping with that, James Tavernier was a major player against Celtic once more, but Rangers manager Philippe Clement wasn’t drawn into politeties come game time.

The 12-word James Tavernier message from Philippe Clement

Rangers FC v Heart of Midlothian - Cinch Scottish Premiership
When questioned about the Rangers captain upon joining the team full-time, the Rangers manager sent a direct 12-word warning to James Tavernier.

Rangers would tie the score at two goals when Tav scored a flawless top corner pressure penalty, but Daizen Maeda caught the Rangers captain off guard for Celtic’s rapid start.

Rangers went behind in a matter of seconds when the Japanese forward slept on a stray back pass and ultimately tackled the ball into the net.
Philippe Clement fully brought the press back to that moment when he told James Tavernier, “I prefer he doesn’t make these mistakes in the first minute also.”

Clement answered this when asked if James Tavernier set an example for the other players:

Sure, but they all set a good example. It’s hard for me to choose just Tav because I would rather he doesn’t make these errors in the first minute as well.

However, he displayed a disposition that allowed him to accept the sentence and accept it in that manner. fervently, with the intention of scoring the goal and awarding the ideal penalty.

It’s not simple, and many players lose their minds after making a mistake like that early in the game. He has the ability to reactivate and become even more driven to make a difference.

Rangers captain senses pressure from Old Firm
After the Rangers and Celtic drew 3–3, both vice captain Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier have been under investigation.

Both were crucial to Celtic’s 2-0 victory, and they both have a lot riding on them versus Rangers.

In spite of their respective numbers and statistics, as well as the contributions they have made to the team, they have yet to be entered into the Ibrox trophy collection.

Both players will be closely watched until that is fixed, and it seems obvious that Philippe Clement, in James Tavernier’s case at least, is fully aware of both his deficiencies and his accomplishments.

The Rangers captain has a crucial season ahead of him, and if he watches his Celtic teammate Callum McGregor win the title one more year, he might be tempted by those millions of Saudis.

The last Old Firm match has left five important questions unsolved, one of which being the situation involving Tav and Goldson.
