Who will win Rangers vs Celtic? Our writers make their predictions for Ibrox blockbuster as champions get no love

This one is as big as it comes as Rangers and Celtic get ready for a blockbuster occasion at Ibrox.

Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Clement have done all their preparations in the week on the training pitch and now it is over to the 22 players on the park as they bid to claim not only the bragging rights but also a massive three points which could have a major say in the destiny of the Scottish Premiership title this season as the games continue to disappear fast for both sides.

As thing stand, Celtic are heading to Govan as league leaders with the champions one point ahead of Rangers in the standings. However, the Light Blues have a game in hand against Dundee, which is scheduled for Wednesday night. But how will the derby day drama all play out? The writers from Record Sport offer their big predictions on the outcome.

With so much at stake this could be regarded as a must win derby for both sides. But it’s also one that neither will want to lose.

A draw keeps Rangers on course to take top spot by winning their game in hand. Likewise, a point would be enough to keep Celtic’s destiny in their own hands. All of this may come into play in the second half if the scores are level. But it’s definitely not going to be dull.

Both teams are scoring goals at the moment and a high scoring affair may be on the cards. There was a 2-2 at Ibrox last season and this might end up the same.

No sitting on the fence here, I genuinely think these two can’t be separated and the title race will charge on into the home straight unchanged. That doesn’t mean this won’t be a thriller. Kyogo comes alive in these big games and will be key for Celtic but Rangers won’t buckle this time and have more than enough in the forward areas to cause Celtic problems backed by a ferocious home crowd.

This is a position Rangers could never have believed would have been possible when Philippe Clement arrived and, quite simply, if they don’t take take full advantage of the opportunity they now have then they don’t deserve to win the league and, as well as they have done, there will be question marks over their mentality to produce when it really matters. But they have enough quality to answer the doubters.

A win could decide the title race – but it could be a must-not-lose for both sides with another derby left in the calendar. Both sides have been scoring plenty of goals in recent weeks and we are in for another thriller at Ibrox. I expect it to be a topsy-turvy game but both sides will take a point into the final run-in.

The stakes are high although with another still to come after the split, this is more of a must not lose than a must win. It’s been nip and tuck between these two for weeks now and the significance might make this an edgy affair that neither would probably be unsatisfied with a point from.
