Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd Clash Over Penalty Denial

When it came to whether Celtic should have been given a penalty in the first half, Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd couldn’t agree.

It should come as no surprise that Boyd did not think Michael Devlin had fouled Kyogo Furhashi even though he had not touched the ball.

He remarked, “So, you had to look at it multiple times and still couldn’t decide, so it’s not clear and obvious,” to Sky Sports.

“That is never a penalty because he is already on the ground when the contact occurs. Look at him; he’s already descending. He grabs his ankle with his leg. Never face a fine.

Sutton, however, felt pity for Celtic because they were not awarded the penalty.

He stated, “I believe Celtic will feel hard done by,” to Sky Sports. I myself have had to view this several times.

“I find it shocking that Don Robertson wasn’t brought over to the monitor for a closer look. I believe there is a penalty since there is contact and Kyogo gets to the ball first.

Despite their disappointment in not receiving a penalty, Celtic overcame a determined Livingston team in the second half to score three goals.

Rangers is the team Celtic face next, and they appear to have rediscovered their form. This sets up what may be the biggest game of the season to date to take place at Ibrox on Sunday.
