Surgery for Hearts centre-back Craig Halkett – plus the latest on Peter Haring

Before the end of the month, Craig Halkett will have minor knee surgery as the Hearts wait for a firm determination on whether he can return to full training. After conferring with an expert, the center-back will have an exploratory procedure to evaluate the region.

Since hobbling off against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup match last month after 26 minutes, he has not appeared on the field. Since the injury’s scans revealed nothing suspicious, it was determined that surgery to look into the matter would be the best course of action.

Although they will wait to determine the outcome of his surgery before speculating on when the 28-year-old might return, Hearts are still optimistic that he will be available soon. After missing a full year due to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, Halkett made his comeback in December and played in the cup 11 times before being forced to leave.

Hearts are not taking any chances with one of their most important players, who has managed some light training in recent weeks, as the most recent injury is reportedly unrelated to the ACL. Due to a separate knee problem, they have also been without center-back Frankie Kent this month.

Peter Haring, a midfielder for Hearts, will have knee surgery the next week and will have to decide quickly whether he wants to play again before his contract runs out. After the season, he will be a free agent, and he will require some time to heal from the surgery. The Edinburgh club still has eight Premiership games as well as cup matches left.
