Round 5 Update: Rain Spell Postpones Games

The fifth round of the Fiji Rugby Provincial Competition, which was supposed to take place this weekend, has been postponed, with sadness from the Fiji Rugby Union. This is because Fiji as a whole has been experiencing significant rain for a long time.

Our top concern continues to be the safety and wellbeing of our players, officials, and fans. It has been decided that the current weather conditions do not support a smooth conduct of the matches after careful consideration and assessment.

During this time, the Fiji Rugby Union strongly advises all Provincial Unions to put safety first. We caution everyone connected to the competition about traveling about and to be especially aware of their own families. In addition, we urge everyone to remain informed about the most recent guidance and alerts provided by the government concerning the current meteorological circumstances.

The Fiji Rugby Union is keeping a careful eye on the situation and is in constant contact with the appropriate authorities. Round 5’s updated schedule will be swiftly revealed once the weather clears and it is safe to move forward.

We are grateful to all parties involved for their cooperation and understanding during this difficult time. The safety and welfare of our rugby community are still top priorities for the Fiji Rugby Union.

This weekend’s schedule consists solely of the Vodafone Vanua and Royal Tea Ranadi Northern Pool matches.
