Manchester United announce pre-season friendly against Rangers at Murrayfield

On July 20, Manchester United and Rangers will play a preseason friendly at Murrayfield in Edinburgh for the first time in almost ten years.

Fans will not have the chance to witness the match between the two teams since 2010 at Ibrox, when United won 1-0 in the Champions League group stage thanks to a late penalty kick by Wayne Rooney.

These days, it’s rare to see either of these teams in the Champions League, even though United did make it this year before losing in the competition’s group round.

In addition, United will be making its second summer visit to Murrayfield following our 1-0 victory against Ligue 1 team Lyon in July. It was an amazing trip, and there will likely be a strong demand for tickets for this one as well.

Our friendly with Rangers will begin at 16:00 BST and will be the last before the club leaves for their summer tour of the United States, which will take them to Los Angeles.

Today, Rangers veteran Lee McCulloch and former United defender Wes Brown attended a ceremony in Edinborough to promote the friendly.

“It’s one of those events that any football fan can’t miss—two of the biggest clubs in British football coming together in the Scottish capital,” Brown told club media. The support from the fans was amazing when United played Olympique Lyonnais last year, and I have no doubt that the atmosphere this year will be much better thanks to the Rangers supporters.

Season ticket holders for the club, official members, and official supporters’ club can purchase pre-sale tickets immediately, while general sale tickets will be available for purchase from this location starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22.
