Fijian Drua’s try-scoring whiz Taniela Rakuro named for first start of 2024

The Fijian Drua made four changes to their starting lineup following their defeat to the Chiefs in Hamilton the previous game, starting Taniela Rakuro, a prolific scorer, on the left wing.
Rakuro, who made headlines during the preseason by scoring a double against the ACT Brumbies, was likened to Flying Fijians legend Rupeni Caucaunibuca.
With his quick speed and unmatched strength, the winger who scored the game-winning goal on his debut against Moana Pasifika the previous season astounded both the Brumbies and the supporters.

Rakuro makes his first appearance in the starting lineup this season; the winger’s only previous outing came against the Chiefs, where he played for just over 20 minutes off the bench.

This week, Haereiti Hetet, Tevita Ikanivere, the hooker for Flying Fijians, and Mesake Doge, the prop, will pack down in an entirely revamped front row three.

The only other alteration is at inside center, leaving the rest of the run-on side unaltered. After playing in the first three games of the season with the No. 12 jersey, Apisalome Vota is back in the starting lineup.

In the midfield, Vota will team up with Iosefo Masi. Masi was chosen as the Fijian Drua’s Fan Player of the Match following the team’s Saturday 46-29 loss against the Chiefs.
The Dura, who have only managed one victory this season, will be eager to get back at Churchill Park in order to stay only a hair’s breadth from the top eight.

The Drua shocked the Crusaders, the defending champions, at home for the second time in as many years with their most recent performance at the Lautoka arena.

The Fijian Drua will play the NSW Waratahs.
