David Edgar shares Ibrox development after Rangers announcement today

The Heart & Hand podcast host, David Edgar, has clarified that the Rangers will play all of their preseason friendlies away from home because Ibrox is undergoing construction.

This comes after Rangers declared they had received an invitation to play Manchester United in a friendly match at Scottish Rugby’s home ground, Murrayfield.

Thus, it was revealed in the friendly’s official release that this might be the only chance to see Rangers play in Scotland this summer.

Edgar published the following via his X account on March 20: “If you’re wondering why Murrayfield, our friendlies will be away games, with work taking place on Ibrox.”

Unless any further friendly are announced in their home nation, Rangers will now likely play the majority of their pre-season games outside of Scotland. It appears the team will be touring numerous clubs around Europe in order to get ready for a new season.

It’s a little early to start talking about next year’s preparations, but considering how competitive this season has been thus far, they know they will need to be at the top of their game over the summer. The current season is not yet complete, and there is still plenty to play for.

Naturally, this will be Philippe Clement’s first preseason as manager at Ibrox, which is frequently quite important for preparation because it allows him to continue experimenting with the players he has available without the pressure of a must-win situation.

Given how close the SPFL title race has been this season, a matchup with Manchester United, wherever it takes place, will present a formidable task for Clement’s club as they get ready for another major season.
