The 2 Coventry City players who realistically could be sold for a fee this summer

We look at two Coventry City players who could leave the club in the summer window.

Coventry City’s transfer plans
After reaching the play-off final last season, there was an expectation that the Sky Blues would go again, but that was always going to be difficult, as influential duo Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres both left for significant fees in the summer.

Whilst the funds brought in were spent on some big-money signings, such as Ellis Simms and Haji Wright, it shouldn’t be underestimated just how difficult it is to replace two key men
But, the reality for Coventry, and virtually all Championship clubs, is that you have to be prepared to wheel and deal, so another busy window could be on the horizon.

Of course, the excitement for fans will be on who they can bring in, but here we look at TWO players who could be sold on for a fee this summer…

Ben Wilson

ben wilson
Robins has the luxury of having two perfectly capable Championship keepers at his disposal, with Ben Wilson and Brad Collins both pushing to be number one.

They have both featured regularly, and whilst there have been the odd mistake here and there from the keepers, they’re both generally reliable, to the extent that you get the feeling Robins is comfortable with whoever plays.

However, whether this is sustainable remains to be seen, and a big decision could be looming. As it stands, you would expect Collins to be given the nod, as he has started the most recent games, and the fact he is four years younger than Wilson means that he is a better long-term option.

Therefore, Wilson may look to move on during the summer window, and you wouldn’t expect Coventry to stand in his way if he was searching for regular first-team football.

The 31-year-old will have a year left on his contract at the end of the season, so it’s the last chance to get a fee for him. It may not be the biggest sum, but it will be enough to allow them to find a suitable backup to Collins.
Ben Sheaf
This is one that Coventry fans won’t want to think about, but Sheaf is a player with real quality and his performances are going to have attracted Premier League attention.

There was talk in January that Luton Town were keen on offering the former Arsenal youngster a top-flight opportunity, but, pleasingly for the Sky Blues, nothing materialised.

Yet, that proves that Sheaf’s reputation is growing in the game, and it’s easy to see why, as he is becoming a complete midfielder who is entering his prime.
With the 26-year-old under contract until the summer of 2026, there won’t be any panicking at Coventry about losing Sheaf on the cheap, but Premier League sides do have the financial power to make big offers, and their resolve could be tested.

It would be a blow to lose the classy midfielder, but it shows Coventry are continuing to get things right in the market, and you would back the recruitment team to replace Sheaf if he is sold.
