Sale Sharks confirm the signing of Manu Tuilagi’s replacement as Fiji captain heads to the Premiership

The Fiji captain Waisea Nayacalevu appears to have been signed by the Sale Sharks as Manu Tuilagi’s replacement, therefore it appears that the latter will be saying goodbye at the end of the season.

Next season, Tuilagi has been linked to a move to France, although Nayacalevu will be going the other way, joining Sale from Toulon.

Signs of Waisea Nayacalevu for Sale Sharks

The Fijian player is highly regarded, especially after his impressive performance on the international scene last year, when he helped his team to a historic victory against England at Twickenham. In addition, he performed admirably for the Flying Fijians, helping them get to the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals.
The explosive center will join Alex Sanderson’s Sharks team before the 2024–2025 Premiership season begins. He has signed a one-year deal with a one-year option.

Before joining Toulon, Nayacalevu played in more than 200 games in France, primarily for Stade Francais. He expressed excitement for his upcoming task.

In the midst of England center’s transfer negotiations, Steve Borthwick comments on Manu Tuilagi’s future.

“I’ve been a longtime fan of the Premiership and have always thought that one day I would love to play there and play rugby in England,” the 33-year-old stated.
“Now that the chance has presented itself, I am incredibly grateful and thrilled. I couldn’t wait to go over there, hang out with the guys, and see how I can help the squad.

“After speaking with Telusa Veainu, I can only hear good things about the team and Manchester.

“I’m excited to play with some of the players I’ve faced off against, including George Ford and Tom Curry. However, I also know that the Sale Sharks roster includes a number of extremely gifted young players, and I’m eager to impart my knowledge and support their growth to the fullest extent possible.

“I told Alex that it’s what I’m passionate about and what I’ve been doing for the last few years of my career.”

Tuilagi will go.

Tuilagi’s transfer to Sale suggests that he will be joining the Top 14, since he is apparently being pursued by Montpellier, Perpignan, and Bayonne.

His 60th and final appearance for the Red Rose is expected to come against France in the Six Nations due to the switch that would disqualify him from playing for England starting in the following season.

Nayacalevu, who is 16 stone and measures 6 feet 4 inches tall, played for Stade Français for ten years until moving to Toulon in 2022.
