‘100%’ – Pundit moots Poty award for Rangers ace as ‘level above’ Celtic verdict shared

Jack Butland, the custodian for the Rangers, deserves to be considered for this season’s Player of the Year award.

That’s the opinion of former Gers star Lee McCulloch, who believes that the team’s finest player this season has been the number one.

Due to his performances under Brendan Rodgers, McCulloch also thinks that Callum McGregor, the captain of Celtics, ought to be considered for the award.

On The Football Show on 15 March, McCullough stated, “He’s got to be,” in reference to Butland’s possible Player of the Year candidature. He must be included because he has been among the Rangers’ finest players this season, without a doubt.

“And despite his injury a few weeks ago, I still believe Callum McGregor will be in the running. I simply believe that he is superior than everyone else.

At Ibrox, Rangers’ top player Jack Butland was on fire.

When Butland arrived last summer, he had a huge task ahead of him as the renowned Allan McGregor had retired from the game, leaving Butland as the starting goalie.

But despite the pressure, the new custodian at Ibrox did not allow it get to him, as Butland has excelled this season.

In the several contests in which the Gers have participated, he has produced innumerable outstanding saves that have enabled them to win the League Cup trophy earlier in the season.

Under Philippe Clement, the top team will also be thinking about winning further trophies, as the Glasgow team is still alive to win a domestic triple crown.

Although Benfica recently eliminated them from the Europa League, they are still very much in the running for the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.

In the former, the Gers lead bitter rivals Celtic by two points, and in the latter, they will play Hearts in the semi-finals.
