Celtic announce classy gesture for supporters impacted by recent Ibrox farce

Elena Sadiku’s sid will take on Hearts and Hibs at Paradise on April 21 and May 19th as part of the league title run-in.

Celtic fans had initially been able to buy briefs for a SWPL derby at Ibrox in February, only for Rangers to controversially cancel the entire away allocation at short notice.

Refunds were issued but Celtic have now taken the further step of ensuring those who had shown commitment to the women’s side will be given free entry to Celtic Park for the upcoming fixture at home to Hearts.

The club said: “For the first fixture at Paradise against Hearts (April 21), we are also delighted to be offering free entry to all those who purchased a ticket for the Glasgow derby at Ibrox last month.

“Clearly, we were disappointed that Celtic supporters were denied access to that match and while we ensured that these fans were refunded for this game we also wanted to further recognise the fantastic commitment and support of these fans, by welcoming them along to Celtic Park to cheer on the Ghirls free of any charge.

“Further information will be circulated to relevant supporters via email in due course.”

Last year, thousands attended big matches at the end of the season as the Ghirls chased their first-ever title, heartbreakingly missing out in the last moments of the campaign.

The club will and the team itself will be hoping for similar backing this term.

Celtic are currently four points behind rivals Rangers at the top of SWPL but it’s still all to play for with two derbies remaining, the first of which comes this Sunday at the Excelsior Stadium.

Win that one and the title race hype will kick into new gear, especially with these matches at Paradise on the horizon for supporters to.
