Brendan Rodgers needs to leave ‘dangerous’ Celtic player on the bench

Brendan Rodgers needs to leave ‘dangerous’ Celtic player on the bench vs St Johnstone on Saturday

With just nine games left to go this season, Brendan Rodgers needs to start being ruthless with his Celtic first team in order to get the results required to win this league.

With players dropping in and out of form and our well-documented injury issues this season, the Celtic manager has found it increasingly difficult to find consistency in performances and results. Not too long ago Celtic were struggling to score more than one goal in a game. In a four-game spell at the end of January and into February we only managed to score twice in one game once.

Quite remarkable. However, the introduction of Adam Idah to the team has offered Brendan Rodgers something different and a 3-1 win over Motherwell was then followed up by a 7-1 thrashing of Hearts.

Described as ‘dangerous‘ after his Motherwell double, Idah drew a blank against Livingston and was replaced by Kyogo Furuhashi who looked very sharp as he sprung the offside trap to net Celtic’s fourth on Sunday.Idah has now failed to score in his last two outings for the Hoops and at the business end of the season, that is not good for a striker.

Kyogo’s confidence will be high after his goal on Sunday and the treble-winning striker will be keen to reinstate himself as Celtic’s main man.

As I said earlier, Kyogo looked back to his best on Sunday and with Idah’s missed penalty against Hearts and drawing a blank against Livingston, his confidence will be dented.

Rodgers must look to start Kyogo against St Johnstone and allow the Japanese to gain some goalscoring momentum before the Rangers tie next month.

Because if we are looking to get a result at Ibrox, a match-fit and confident Kyogo gives us a better chance of doing that.

And he has proved, that over the last couple of seasons, he is a thorn in the Govan team’s side.
