Long-Gone Rangers ‘Big Star’ finally returns to training

Ibrox insider shares Abdallah Sima injury update as Philippe Clement set for ‘big bonus’

Rangers winger Abdallah Sima is back on the training ground as he continues to make his way back from injury, according to Ibrox insider Barry Ferguson.

The Senegalese international hasn’t featured for Philippe Clement’s side since 2 January, when he scored in the Gers’ 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox, having sustained an injury while away at the African Cup of Nations.Clement had confirmed at the start of March that the 22-year-old was expected to return to individual training in the coming days and Ferguson has admitted that Sima is closing in on a return to the first-team fold.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (13 March, 4:35) he said: “I believe he’s out on the training ground doing his stuff. Again that would be a big bonus to get him back because he’s one of the signings from the summer who’s impressed.

“His goalscoring return from the wide area was exceptional and again, he was becoming a big player for Rangers so good news on him as well.”

When will Abdallah Sima be fit to play for Rangers and Philippe Clement again?

Michael Beale spent incredibly heavily during the summer transfer window at Ibrox and while the likes of Sam Lammers and Jose Cifuentes have proven to be flops, Sima was excellent from the moment he arrived in Glasgow.

The 22-year-old managed to score 10 goals and lay on two assists in 20 Premiership appearances before his injury and popped up with some bright displays in both the Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League.Losing Sima, alongside both Danilo and Kemar Roofe, has left Cyriel Dessers as the only genuine striking option in the Gers’ squad, with Fabio Silva often used as a wide player. The Nigerian has impressed, but he needs some support.Hopefully, the Senegalese Brighton loanee will be back among the first team on the other side of the March international break, that way the Light Blues will get a major boost as they look to pip Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.
