Super Rugby Pacific Team of the Week: ‘Legendary’ All Black rewarded for record-breaking feat as Wallabies hopefuls impress Joe Schmidt

Planet Rugby selects our side of the week as the Fijian Drua and Australian outfits are awarded after another exciting Super Rugby Pacific weekend.

15 Max Jorgensen (Waratahs): With an incredible effort in a losing situation, the youthful wonder demonstrated why he is the subject of so much excitement. In a strong performance, the full-back scored one try, outran four opponents, and almost covered 100 metres with the ball in hand.

14 Selestino Ravutaumada, a Fijian Drua, was an absolute handful who caused the Crusaders’ defense endless problems throughout the game. He made over 100 meters with the ball in hand, outran a staggering seven opponents, and scored a try in an incredible performance at home. He is a ball player of sorts. Josh Moorby of the Hurricanes was also performing well for his club.

13 Iosefo Masi (Fijian Drua): Masi, like his right flank, was a major threat to the Crusaders, outpacing seven defenders and covering less than 100 meters. The center played a significant role in the thrilling victory at home.

12 Julian Savea (Moana Pasifika): The renowned All Black became the all-time leader in Super Rugby Pacific try scoring with his first try for his new team and his 61st overall. For Savea, who excels in the center, it was a tremendous opportunity as he outperformed himself by defeating four defenders and creating two clean breakouts.

11 Andrew Kellaway (Melbourne Rebels): The Wallaby suited up wonderfully at left wing, scoring a try, setting up another, and outrunning five defenders in the process. It doesn’t seem to matter what number is on his back right now. Joe Schmidt, the coach of Australia, will undoubtedly keep a close eye on him. Over the weekend, Hurricane Kini Naholo was ablaze as well.
10 Rhys Patchell (Highlanders): Following yet another impressive outing, the former Wales player scored his second try for the team this past weekend. Patchell has taken to the Highlanders like a duck to water. In the absence of having to kick the goal, Patchell appears to be playing freely and self-assuredly.
9. One of the heroes for his team in Lautoka, Frank Lomani (Fijian Drua) displayed his class and expertise in front of his home supporters. The scrum-half was a key player for the entirety of his time on the field and was able to score and assist. an essential component of Fijian Drua.

8 Brayden Iose (Hurricanes): Easily the busiest number eight this weekend, Iose put up a tremendous effort against the Blues, racking up 21 tackles. He also made 60 meters from 11 carries for some reason. Personification of work-rate: the “Canes man”

7 Fraser McReight (Reds): The flanker managed to smuggle in a try for good measure in between his 20 tackles and two turnovers. A strong performance from a player looking to make an impression on the new Wallabies manager.

6 Samipeni Finau (Chiefs): Despite losing, the All Black displayed his talent over the weekend. Finau had 11 tackles and some strong carry statistics, which helped him be efficient on both sides of the ball. He was chosen over the Blues superstar because of his efforts.

5 Isaia Walker-Leawere (Hurricanes): Another diligent worker for the Wellington team, Walker-Leawere managed an absurd 20 tackles during the game. In a relentless shift, he also succeeded in getting the Hurricanes some good go-forward.

 

4 Mesake Vocevoce (Fijian Drua): The Drua’s go-to wrecking ball from the forward pack, he ran it up ten times that day, which was amazing. Other than that, he was strong, and his efforts helped the team defeat the Crusaders handily.

 

3 Jerome Ainsley (Highlanders): This tighthead has a reputation for being one of the best all the time, and it was evident once more. Although he played several carries and was reliable on the set-piece, he was most productive on defense, recording seven tackles in the game.

2 Matthew Faessler (Reds): Did a good job of controlling the set-piece and crossing the whitewash. He played excellent defense, making 11 tackles and forcing one turnover in a masterful shift. Samisoni Taukei’aho, the Chiefs hooker, was also performing at his usual high level.

1 Aidan Ross (Chiefs): Despite having a double-digit tackle total and good overall park management, Aidan Ross was the best loosehead defender last weekend.
