Southampton man highlights Sunderland tactic and explains what Russell Martin said to him

Joe Rothwell, a midfielder for Southampton who scored twice against the Black Cats after coming off the bench, emphasized Sunderland’s man-to-man marking strategy.

After Sunderland had tied the score in the 73rd minute at St Mary’s, the 29-year-old came off the bench and scored twice in a three-minute stretch to give the home team a 4-2 victory. Following the game, Rothwell remarked, “I felt there were chances.” They engaged in man-to-man play around the field, so I anticipated that their defense would have gaps.

There would be opportunities if we could pick it up and make the proper pass. I was brought on by the gaffer, who instructed me to shoot freely and try to score.

Fortunately, I’ve hit two good hits today. I’m content with the initial one. My technique is something I’m really proud of. I put a lot of effort into my ball-striking most days. I was aware that the ball had a strong chance of entering if I could get my head over it and catch it sweetly.

After establishing a 2-0 lead before halftime, Southampton looked to be in control of the match; however, goals from Jobe Bellingham and Romaine Mundle pulled Sunderland even.

Rothwell continued, “I think at 2-0 we were fully in control and there were two sucker punches there to get them back into the game.” “I think they really had the momentum.” It merely depicts the gang that is in the locker room. A little misfortune is inevitable. You overcome it, and happily, once they returned to the game, we were able to obtain the favorable outcome.
