6 Celtic training observations as forgotten trio spotted and McGregor missing

A hectic week has been had at Celtic Park since the champions were unable to secure the league’s top spot at Tynecastle.

The SFA rejected the Hoops’ attempts to overturn Yang’s contentious red card, and Brendan Rodgers may be banned from the dugout for the Glasgow derby at Ibrox next month after receiving a citation for his irrational outburst at referees Don Robertson and John Beaton following the team’s 2-0 loss to Hearts. There have also been a few departures: left-back misfit Alexandro Bernabei has signed a £10 million loan with Brazilian club Internacional until the end of 2024, while Treble-winning hero Liel Abada has sealed a £10 million move to Charlotte FC.

While the off-field news may easily divert Celtic stars, the Parkhead team is aware that they cannot afford to lose focus between now and the end of the season. This weekend is your chance to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup, when the holders take on Livingston, a struggling Premiership team. However, they’ll need to finish the job with skipper Callum McGregor as the vital midfield player missed practice once more due to an Achilles injury.
Since McGregor will be out for the next few games, Daniel Kelly, an up-and-coming player, might get an opportunity to show off in the middle of the field. Rodgers thinks highly of the teenager.
