Sione Matakaiongo’s last-minute penalty helped Tonga defeat Moana Pasifika in the opening match of the competition’s final round.

Fly-half Matakaiongo maintained his composure to give the Junior Ikale Tahi their first victory of the season with a few seconds remained, even though it seemed like number eight Uikelotu Afeaki’s hat-trick would go in vain.

After Moana Pasifika had jumped out to a 17–5 lead, Tonga persisted and their perseverance paid off.
