In the summer of 2022, he relocated to Bologna, a Serie A team.

The 24-year-old has made a big impression this season and has captained the Italian team on multiple occasions. Ferguson should have been signed by Celtic years ago, according to reports. Ferguson was recently linked to European powerhouse Juventus (La Gazzetta dello sport).

Last Friday night, former Hoops midfielder Peter Grant claimed on Go Radio’s Football Show that Glasgow ought to have welcomed the Scotland international to Glasgow. Grant joked, “We said Celtic or Rangers should have taken him.”

“We expressed our agreement long ago regarding his performance.

He’s been a credit to himself and his family to go out and take it with both hands, to captain them [Bologna] as well and to speak Italian, among other things. He’s been outstanding.

Ferguson’s uncle Barry subsequently acknowledged on the programme that Rangers had no interest in signing him at all, which meant The Bhoys would have had a free hand in signing the player—at least among Scottish teams. But the ship sailed a long time ago.

Ferguson is currently well out of the club’s reach and starring on the continent, despite the fact that he would have probably thrived at Parkhead and added much-needed ferocity to the engine room.
