“World-class” player could be tempted to sign for Celtic

According to a new transfer update this week, one significant Celtic transfer target may now be open to relocating to Parkhead.

Rumors of a Celtic transfer
After losing their previous two games in the Scottish Premiership, the Hoops have been winning again recently. On the weekend, they defeated Motherwell late in the game, and on Wednesday night, they crushed Dundee 7-1. The Rangers are still ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ team at the top of the table, and it appears like the title fight will be decided at the very last minute.

Even if Rodgers is preoccupied with issues on the field, it appears that Celtic chefs are already keeping one eye on the transfer market. Given that the money appears to be available, recent sources have even hinted that the Hoops may surpass their transfer record with a single acquisition this summer.

Loanee Adam Idah is reportedly amenable to a long-term move to Celtic, while youthful Patrick Casey of Charlton Athletic is also being considered.

The club’s main objective, though, seems to be a new goalkeeper, and Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool is a strong contender. The Reds’ keeper is someone Celtic “would love” to get, although prior reports suggested it could be difficult to convince him to move to Scotland.

Kelleher will provide an update to Celtic.

Kelleher might be persuaded to sign with Celtic because of “the prospect of regular first-team football north of the border,” according to a recent HITC update. The manager appears to be a huge fan of Kelleher, who is reportedly very high on Rodgers’ wishlist, but a deal may cost as much as £15 million.

A new first-choice goalkeeper is required because Joe Hart is expected to retire at the end of the current campaign. According to the source, the club has also observed Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor.

Although Allison has recently been Jurgen Klopp’s first choice at Anfield, Kelleher has been a regular player in domestic cup tournaments. In the EL Cup final on Sunday, he shone for the Reds against Chelsea, earning Liverpool’s sixth major award in the process.

Teammate Virgil van Dijk has also praised Kelleher, saying on Sunday that “he should have got it (player of the match).” I believe I am one of his biggest fans.

“He is world class, as I have always maintained, and he delivered today once more. It’s encouraging to observe. He is a decent boy and a competent goalie, which is exactly what a team like Liverpool needs.

Over the weekend, Klopp also waxed poetic about Kelleher, saying: “Caoimh was incredible.” Such a polished performance. We have the finest goalkeeper in the world and the best number two in the world, as I frequently repeat. I’m overjoyed for him. Best of the bunch.”

The fact that Kelleher might suddenly be inclined to sign with Celtic is encouraging for the Hoops, and a deal is something to keep an eye on in the upcoming months.
