What Adam Idah posted on Instagram to Celtic fans after scoring again in heavy win over Dundee

Celtic bulldozed Dundee last night in a 7-1 victory at Parkhead to keep themselves right on the tail of Rangers in the race for the Scottish Premiership crown.

Among the scorers was Adam Idah, who netted for the fifth time in six appearances since joining the club by virtue of a powerful header that left visiting goalkeeper Trevor Carson with no chance.

Despite initial scepticism, which admittedly was levelled more at the Bhoys transfer policy than the player, Idah has assumed a prominent role under Brendan Rodgers, who looks to have pulled off a masterstroke by bringing him into the fold.

The Republic of Ireland international has embraced the challenge of playing under severe expectation and signified that he thrives off being tasked to produce in crunch moments.

He stated earlier in the week: “I think I thrive off pressure. That’s what excites me. For a lot of players, that’s what you play football for. That pressure gives you that bit of motivation. I know for me, that’s when I play my best.”

Idah is clearly enjoying his new-found hero status at Celtic, and if he continues his current vein of form, calls for Rodgers to bring him north of the border permanently may prove difficult to ignore.

Reports in Ireland have suggested that he may be available for a fee in excess of £3 million, though there isn’t much clarity out there surrounding a ballpark fee if we were to try and deal him in.

Despite having just 14 touches in an hour on the field, Idah made his mark by getting on the scoresheet and putting the ball to good use when called upon.

Per Sofascore, the 23-year-old completed nine of his 11 attempted passes alongside successfully contesting 100% of his aerial duels.

In the aftermath of proceedings, the Cork-born man took to Instagram, sharing his delight at the Bhoys’ performance against Dundee and thanking the crowd for the support his side received, as he added: ‘What a performance! Crowd was rocking last night’ followed by a green love heart emoji.

Kyogo Furuhashi is a hard man to keep out of any side; however, few would argue against Idah being the preferred option out of the pair to provide a focal point against Heart of Midlothian in attack this Sunday.

Travelling to Tynecastle will supply a huge test of Celtic’s credentials in the title race, and Idah will be keen to have his say in the capital if he is given the opportunity.
