Ben Gollings has degraded Fiji sevens squad claims ex fiji wing

Another attempt to remove Ben Gollings as head coach has been made in response to his most recent failure to win an HSBC SVNS title at the Vancouver SVNS.Ben Gollings has degraded Fiji sevens squad claims ex wing – RugbyRecruitIt is said that Gollings “degraded” the team during the preparation for the team’s defence of the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Vilimoni Delasau, a former rugby sevens winger for Fiji, has increased the pressure on Gollings by again urging double Olympic gold medallist Jerry Tuwai to take over as coach and lead the team to the Olympic Games in Paris alongside former sevens captain Sireli Bobo. Delasau told the Fiji Sun, “I just saw the news this afternoon and it is really disappointing.”

“I’m not sure whether Gollings was sent to lower our sevens [rugby] standard or anything else. I’m fed up with the Fiji Rugby Union’s actions. When he is not performing, they are keeping Gollings there.

“Sireli Bobo has consistently shown his worth. Jerry Tuwai ought to lead the team to the Olympics, in my opinion. Jerry may be ready to teach, but I’m not sure if he’s ready to play. He’s probably past his playing best, but I think he’ll make an excellent coach for our sevens squad.

His demand for a significant overhaul of the coaching staff stems from the Fiji men’s sevens team’s defeat in the Vancouver SVNS cup quarterfinal. The Fijians lost their final group match, 24-19, to eventual winners Argentina, and then lost to New Zealand 21-19.

With a 36-12 victory over New Zealand in Vancouver, Argentina won the men’s division for the third time in a row. France took home the bronze, dropping Fiji to third place overall behind Argentina and Ireland.

Fiji will compete in the same pool as Great Britain, France, and Canada in the fifth round of the SVNS Series 2024, which will be held in Los Angeles from March 1–3.
