Celtic now want to sign club captain who was expected to sign with Liverpool

Club captain, who was expected to sign with Liverpool in 2020, is suddenly a target for Celtic.

Ugurcan Cakir, who was actually predicted to sign with Liverpool back in 2020, is now a target for Celtic.

Celtic desire Cakir Ugurcan

Gunebakis claims that Celtic has recognized the Turkey international as a possible Joe Hart substitute.

The England international declared his retirement from competitive football on Sunday.

Gunebakis thinks Celtic has already contacted Trabzonspor about Cakir, asking them what it would take to recruit the 27-year-old.

Celtic opted to put the captain of Trabzonspor, who is regarded as one of the best players in Europe, on the short list of possible Hart replacements because of his reputation as a quality player.

Trabzonspor does not plan to lose Cakir this summer, according to Gunebakis, yet a sizable offer might persuade the Süper Lig team to sell.
The goalkeeper, who was born in Antalya, has performed admirably this season, surrendering 30 goals but maintaining nine clean sheets in 26 Süper Lig games.

Liverpool was predicted to sign Ugurcan Cakir.

It’s interesting to note that back in 2020, the Celtic target was predicted to sign with Liverpool; in fact, it sounded like a deal had been finalized.

The absurd assertion was made by Sadi Tekelioglu, Cakir’s former manager at Trabzonspor.

Takvim cited the 69-year-old as stating: “Ugurcan Cakir will be signed by Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.” Liverpool’s offer will not be turned down by Trabzonspor. I had a meeting with Ugurcan. He claimed Liverpool looked after him.
Now, the Turkish goalkeeper’s dream of moving to Anfield never came to pass, but Liverpool may still be considering him given Caoimhin Kelleher’s uncertain future.

Cakir is without a doubt a very good goalkeeper, and he would seem to be a great contender to take Hart’s spot at Celtic Park, whatever happens.
