Celtic banner breaches code as Green Brigade warned of ‘unacceptable’ issue

The club issued a letter to the fan group after the Kilmarnock clash

Celtic have issued a letter to the Green Brigade to explain how they received “a volume of complaints” regarding the recent “End Zionism” banner before the Kilmarnock clash.

The fan group unfurled the banner just as the game on February 17 kicked off and received widespread exposure via social media and other media publications. Jewish supporters later hit out at the stance and urged for the group to be banned from future games for their political messages.

And now the club has sent a letter regarding the banner and have told the Green Brigade it breaches the club’s banner protocol as well as the updated rail seating code of conduct.

They say the group “suggestion” that they speak on behalf of the club as a whole is “unacceptable” and have demanded no more similar banners are shared.

“Good afternoon,” the letter began as shared on social media by 4 Tims and a Podcast.

“With reference to the display in the front section of the Rail Seating Section at the home match against Kilmarnock on 17 February, it is noted that this a breach of the Club’s Banner Protocol and the updated and agreed Rail Seating Code of Conduct.
