Celtic now keeping tabs on 11-goal winger, he’s available on a free transfer this summer

Celtic will cast their eye to summer recruitment in a matter of months once they conclude the 2023/24 campaign.

Of course, fans still have the disappointment of the winter market period fresh in their memory. It remains to be seen what knock-on effect it will have on their chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title.

Brendan Rodgers did manage to bring in Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah during a quiet month on the transfer front, though that is now academic as the Bhoys look to claim a domestic double.

The Irishman pled for ‘quality’ additions on more than one occasion in the lead-up to a frustrating mid-season window.

Nevertheless, the summer is expected to produce movement in both directions at Parkhead, with a squad reshuffle of some form likely regardless of our eventual league position.

Several additions over the last year haven’t had the desired impact for Celtic; meanwhile, the likes of Hyeokkyu Kwon and Marco Tilio barely featured for the club before being sent out on loan.

Truthfully, the Hoops’ transfer approach is becoming a concerning problem that fans are desperate to see resolved amid substantial expenditure being shelled out over the years on some players who clearly aren’t up to the mark.

Celtic linked with surprise move for Qarabag’s Abdellah Zoubir

Abdellah Zoubir - Wikipedia

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Celtic are keeping tabs on Qarabag winger Abdellah Zoubir, who is available on a free transfer at the end of the season due to his contractual situation.

Some eagle-eyed football fans reading will also stress that he has previous experience in the Scottish Premiership following a loan spell at Hibernian during 2013/14 [Sky Sports].

Hailing from Lille, Zoubir has been in excellent form this campaign, registering 11 goals and ten assists from 39 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Despite his impressive statistics, it would be hard to see Celtic sanctioning a deal for the experienced wide-man because he has virtually no sell-on value due to his age.

Earning profit off players after two or three seasons’ worth of good performances isn’t the be-all and end-all at Parkhead.

However, it has formed a large part of our recruitment strategy over the years, which may lessen the likelihood of a transfer coming to fruition.
